The 11th Generation Skyline (Rumors):
With French
automaker Renault's takeover of Nissan's operations, the manufacturer will be
trying to cut down on production lines. It is rumored that the Skyline, among
others, will be chopped from Nissan's lineup. Adding fire to the alleged demise
of the Skyline is the rumored conflict between the Z-car faction and the
Skyline-faction within Nissan. It's been going around that the more influential
Z-car faction has been trying to prevent the Skyline from being a popular car.
It is said that this is the real reason why Nissan hasn't made a US-spec Skyline
(or any left-hand drive version). Now that money is tight, the nostalgic Z-car
faction would rather see the Skyline die off than see the Z-car project
jeopardized. Whether these allegations are true or not, the current rumors are:
1.) The next-generation Skyline will be a Z-car, with the former's internal
components.
OR
2.) There will be an R35! And it's going to be a Skyline. The R35 is said to be
packing the VQ35DETT, a 3.5L DOHC 32V V-8
twin-turbocharged engine and having 400+HP. More info on this to follow!
